How AI helped me bypass Storyline’s limitations

Articulate Storyline is the industry standard, but developers sometimes need workarounds for features that should be simple, such as a timer that does not reset when a learner changes slides.

Solving the persistent timer problem

I needed a persistent countdown timer for a project. Native triggers do not handle cross-slide timing well, so I used AI to help write JavaScript and then connected it to Storyline variables.

The process still required troubleshooting, but it handled much of the syntax and made a custom feature practical without turning the module into a separate application.

Extending Articulate Storyline with JavaScript

AI-assisted code can support custom interactions, more complex scenarios and browser-based 3D while Storyline continues to handle course structure, tracking and hosting. Used carefully, it turns a closed tool into a more flexible canvas.
